My research has been conducted over a range of scales – from laboratory microcosms to whole watersheds that span a large portion of a continent. My goals have been to understand how food webs operate and how human impacts affect evolution, population, community and ecosystem processes. In all cases, I have employed a combination of manipulative experiments coupled with long-term measurements and observations In this talk, I will highlight some of my past and current research from New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Utah.
